An Interim Director of Hospice and Palliative Care is needed to provide operational leadership and strategic oversight for hospice and palliative care services while supporting a team during a leadership transition. Reporting to the Assistant Chief Nursing Officer, the role will oversee approximately 60 FTEs and will be responsible for assessing and implementing best-practice staffing models, evaluating and enhancing QAPI reporting processes, reviewing policies and procedures, and driving operational improvements. The leader will foster a supportive, engaged team culture and is expected to demonstrate a visible, approachable leadership style.

The ideal candidate will have extensive leadership experience in hospice and palliative care, strong emotional intelligence, and the ability to adapt quickly to changing needs. The role requires strong organizational skills and a patient-focused approach, along with excellent communication capabilities. Availability to start within 2–3 weeks of acceptance is required. A Bachelor’s degree is required, and a Master’s degree is highly preferred. The candidate must hold a current Virginia RN license or a Compact State RN license.
