Description

the client is seeking an experienced Interim Chief People Officer to join the Executive Leadership Team at a pivotal point in its organisational journey. This role will help strengthen organisational culture, performance, leadership capability, and long-term organisational health, shaping people strategy to enable agile, resilient operations with meaningful impact.

As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Interim Chief People Officer will lead the People and Organisational Development Directorate, taking a whole-system, organisation-first approach with strong cross-organisational influence. Key responsibilities include defining, planning, and embedding the organisational people strategy; acting as an accountability partner on leadership behaviours, culture, and the creation of a psychologically safe, high-trust environment; improving colleague engagement and progressing the digitisation of the end-to-end people experience; and leading, coaching, and motivating the People Directorate team to deliver measurable performance outcomes.

The role also partners with the CEO and Executive Team on organisational design, leadership capability development, succession and workforce planning, and people-centred transformation and change programmes that are sustainable and widely adopted. Additional responsibilities include using internal and external insights to inform future thinking on operating models and culture, taking financial stewardship for the People function (including budgeting and resource deployment), and supporting the embedding of Enterprise Leadership principles across executive and senior leadership levels. The successful candidate will be an accomplished executive-level people leader with a track record of delivering sustained organisational change in complex environments, demonstrating experience with digitising the people experience and increasing people data maturity, building and sustaining positive cultures during change, and strong stakeholder management and influencing skills at Board and executive levels.
