Description

An Interim Chief Executive Officer is needed to provide executive leadership and operational oversight for a Critical Access Hospital. The role reports to the Board of Directors and will oversee an organization with approximately 145 employees and 20 physicians. Responsibilities include maintaining operational stability, supporting quality and regulatory compliance initiatives, overseeing financial performance, and ensuring a smooth leadership transition until a permanent CEO is in place.

The ideal candidate is a servant leader with prior hospital executive leadership experience and a demonstrated ability to engage physicians, employees, and community stakeholders. The role requires strong organization, a patient-focused approach, and the ability to adapt quickly to changing needs. Excellent communication skills are critical, and the candidate should be available to start within 2–3 weeks of acceptance.

A bachelor’s degree is required, with a master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Experience as a Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer, or senior hospital leader in a Critical Access Hospital or rural healthcare setting is required. The position may involve varying travel requirements, with travel and related expenses typically covered by the provider and the client; candidates may receive periodic trips home and lodging and a rental car as part of the interim arrangement.
