the client is recruiting an ambitious, dynamic lawyer to serve as In-House Legal Counsel for a construction and development organization. The role will support the enterprise across corporate and commercial legal matters, with location expectations in Kingston, Ottawa, or the Greater Toronto Area. This position offers a high-visibility, independent scope with opportunities to directly influence the client’s continued growth and success.
In this role, you will act as the primary legal advocate and strategist, including leading and directing litigation matters independently. Responsibilities include providing deep commercial and corporate legal support, advising on risk management and proactive legal strategy, and collaborating with internal teams and external counsel. You are expected to effectively communicate complex legal concepts to executives, colleagues, and external stakeholders, with capabilities spanning negotiation, arbitration, and litigation, as well as experience handling administrative proceedings and tribunals.
Requirements include robust knowledge of current legal frameworks, regulatory requirements, industry standards, and compliance matters. You should have strong experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a range of legal documents, including contracts and corporate policies, and experience involving intellectual property matters.
