The department includes faculty, residents, fellowship programs, and research laboratories with strengths in functional neurosurgery, neuromodulation, and device-driven research. Faculty contributions support advances in restorative and regenerative neuroscience, including areas such as neuromodulation, neural interfaces, and device-based innovation, along with research activities spanning regenerative science, imaging, gene therapy, and spinal cord injury.
The Head will lead across a complex academic and clinical environment and work collaboratively with partners across clinical care, education, and biomedical research to enable multidisciplinary training and investigation. The role reports to the Dean of the Medical School & Vice President for Clinical Affairs and requires board certification in Neurological Surgery, eligibility for medical licensure in Minnesota, and a distinguished record of academic leadership and scholarly achievement.
