As Head of Service – Service Improvement, you will lead a high-profile interim assignment supporting transformation within Children’s Services, with a focus on embedding service improvement and organisational change at a critical stage of development. Working alongside senior leaders, you will drive reform, ensure key strategic priorities are implemented, and help deliver positive outcomes for children, families, and the workforce.
In this role, you will lead the implementation of Families First reforms, establishing robust programme governance, delivery plans, and reporting arrangements. You will design and embed a Quality Assurance Framework to drive continuous improvement through performance, audit, and feedback mechanisms, while coordinating workforce planning and transition activity so services are prepared for future operating models. You will also maintain oversight of wider transformation and improvement programmes, identify dependencies and opportunities across services, and provide comprehensive programme management with risk registers, action logs, decision records, and delivery milestones.
To succeed, you will have significant experience at Senior Manager level within local government or children’s services, with proven success leading large-scale organisational change and transformation programmes. You should have strong programme and project management skills to manage multiple priorities, and demonstrate excellent stakeholder engagement and communication abilities, including influencing senior leaders and partners. You will be detail-oriented, able to maintain comprehensive programme documentation and governance processes, and thrive in a fast-paced environment while focusing on solutions and meaningful improvement.
