The client seeks a Head of School to lead a vibrant, outward-facing School of Education within the Faculty of Health & Education. The School delivers an inclusive academic community and a research-informed portfolio spanning undergraduate and postgraduate education programmes, including areas such as early years and childhood studies, special and inclusive education, and educational leadership. It also supports initial teacher education through programmes including Primary routes and a range of Secondary PGCEs, with research embedded across teaching to improve educational outcomes for children and young people.
In this role, you will shape the School’s strategic direction and drive excellence in both research and education, championing collaboration and inclusion throughout the academic community. The position is expected to involve active engagement with wider faculty leadership priorities and partnerships, contributing to executive-level discussions and working closely with university leadership. You will lead and develop a talented academic team, support career progression, foster pedagogic and research innovation, and ensure an exceptional student experience.
The client is looking for a motivated and visionary leader with a track record in academic leadership, ideally currently holding the rank of Professor and demonstrating a personal commitment to research and pedagogic innovation. Applicants should bring a clear and ambitious vision for the School and the ability to inspire colleagues and students. The role will also support broader initiatives such as curriculum development, community connections, and international collaboration, with an emphasis on growing the research profile. Interviews are expected to be held in Manchester.
