the client is seeking a new Head of School to lead a PreK-12 charter school serving approximately 900 students across three campuses in the Cambridge/Somerville area. Following the upcoming retirement of the current Head of School after the 2026–2027 academic year, the client’s Board of Trustees will appoint a successor to ensure the school’s mission is advanced through strong academics, a positive school culture, effective operations, and sustained community engagement.
The Head of School will be responsible for the overall management and success of the school, including instructional quality, school culture, operational excellence, fundraising, external relations, and financial management. Serving as the primary liaison to external audiences—such as funders, state chartering authorities, the broader community, and other key partners—the role will work closely with a Senior Leadership Team and a 15-member Board of Trustees to align priorities and drive progress toward school goals. The position will oversee an approximately $26 million annual operating budget and lead a community of roughly 200 teachers and staff.
Key responsibilities include leading the school’s vision focused on equity and excellence; inspiring students, faculty, families, and partners while maintaining a consistent focus on student and community outcomes; and coaching senior leaders and staff while holding them accountable for goals and results. The Head of School will partner with the Board and funders to secure and allocate resources, guide enrollment and facilities planning, and oversee fundraising and resource development. The role is expected to bring an entrepreneurial, solutions-oriented approach to address complex challenges and identify opportunities that strengthen long-term viability and impact.
