the client is seeking a head of projects to provide overall leadership of an enterprise project function while setting the strategic direction for future project organization. The role involves ensuring that complex projects are executed safely, efficiently, on time, and with strong economic and business judgment, while maintaining high quality and predictability in core activities related to turnarounds and larger maintenance work.
the head of projects will have overall responsibility for four departments, three managers, an annual project portfolio of approximately 380 million DKK, and a project sector with more than 40 employees and dedicated consultants. The role reports directly to the managing director and is part of the organization’s executive leadership group, contributing to the development and execution of the overall strategy. Day-to-day execution responsibility is carried by the three department managers.
key responsibilities include strategic project leadership and portfolio management, including prioritization, capacity planning, value creation, and transparent, proactive reporting to executive leadership and the owner group, including governance for CAPEX and investment decisions. The role also sets direction for shared project principles, standards, and control models; ensures professional supplier/contractor and contract management across the sector; owns the execution model to deliver safe, predictable performance aligned with prioritized scope, time, budget, quality, and operational needs. The head of projects will also drive common project tools and governance for the project handbook and shared project management practice, strengthen economic, schedule, and risk maturity, and develop the sector organization to improve delivery reliability, competency and task matching, business understanding, and an appropriate balance between employees and external consultants.
