Description

The client is a global nonprofit focused on advancing health equity by translating scientific and technical innovation into practical solutions that improve health outcomes. As it moves toward a milestone anniversary, The client’s strategy emphasizes impact across vaccines, diagnostics, devices, medicines, digital and data tools, and health system innovation, with a growing emphasis on mobilizing flexible philanthropic resources to support urgent global health challenges.

The client is hiring a Head of Philanthropy to lead its next phase of individual and family giving. This role centers on building trusted relationships with donors who share The client’s commitment to health equity, while shaping a relationship-centered, strategic philanthropy function closely aligned to the organization’s priorities. The Head of Philanthropy reports to the Chief Global Health Programs Officer and collaborates with executive leadership, program and regional teams, marketing and communications, and the Board to align philanthropic investment with evolving strategic priorities and high-impact opportunities.

The Head of Philanthropy leads a team of approximately six and is responsible for developing the team’s structure, priorities, and operating approach to deliver the philanthropy strategy. The role typically requires 10+ years of progressive experience in major or principal gifts and high-net-worth fundraising, including leading transformational asks and closing multiple seven-figure gifts, along with strong development function leadership and experience strengthening systems and culture. It also calls for fluency in individual and family philanthropy, strong fundraising analytics capabilities (including prospect research, wealth screening, moves management, CRM discipline, and pipeline forecasting), the ability to translate technical and scientific work into compelling investment cases with appropriate judgment about subject-matter expertise, and excellent written and verbal communication skills to represent The client credibly with sophisticated donors in complex, matrixed environments.
