Description

the client offers a stable, long-term service environment with a central role in payroll. In this position, you will own end-to-end payroll operations for approximately 3,300 employees in collaboration with an external service provider. The role combines high visibility and trust, with accountability for the accuracy, transparency, and reliability of payroll outcomes.

You will lead the payroll team both functionally and disciplinarily, providing coaching and supporting professional development. Responsibilities include steering payroll activities, ensuring quality, and continuously improving the collaboration with the external payroll provider. You will ensure compliance with applicable statutory and collective-agreement requirements across labor, tax, and social security law, and you will monitor deadlines, stability, and quality of payroll processing.

The role also involves close collaboration with HR Operations, Finance, Controlling, and other internal stakeholders, as well as active advancement of processes, standards, and governance in the payroll area. You will serve as a trusted advisor for HR and management stakeholders, addressing complex special cases and supporting internal and external reviews and audits. The successful applicant typically brings multi-year experience in a leading payroll function with team responsibility, expertise in payroll for larger headcounts (ideally 1,000+ employees, including via outsourcing), strong knowledge of German tax, social security, and labor law, and demonstrated leadership and communication capabilities, with native-level German proficiency.
