the client is seeking a Head of MGAs Europe to define and execute the MGA channel strategy across target markets, business lines, and partnerships. The role includes identifying, negotiating, and securing agreements with key MGA partners across EMEA, as well as implementing underwriting, pricing, and governance standards within the channel. The position will oversee performance management through portfolio monitoring, KPI tracking, dashboards, and regular review processes.
Key responsibilities include overseeing technical and financial performance of the MGA portfolio, such as gross written premium, loss ratios, and profitability, and ensuring contractual frameworks and incentive schemes support channel objectives. The role will manage operational, regulatory, and reputational risks, and lead due diligence and onboarding for new MGA partners. Collaboration with internal functions such as underwriting, claims, actuarial, legal, and compliance is central to execution and ongoing governance.
The successful candidate will have a degree in business administration, economics, law, or a similar field, with an MBA a plus. Experience in insurance, typically 10+ years, with exposure to underwriting, distribution, or partnerships is expected, along with strong experience with MGAs and/or broking. Additional requirements include a solid understanding of technical profitability and portfolio management, a proven track record negotiating complex international agreements, knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks (e.g., IDD and Solvency II), cross-border experience, and fluent English. The role will also involve leading, developing, and scaling the MGA team.
