The client is a pension fund managing a large portfolio of assets and providing oversight across technical, administrative, legal, financial, and actuarial aspects of pension schemes, including advisory services related to risk management and strategic insurance guidance. As Head of Investment, you will join the portfolio management team and report directly to the CEO, taking autonomous responsibility for investment-related files across multiple areas of expertise.
You will master one or more asset classes and assess key drivers for both familiar and new asset classes. The role includes analyzing portfolio composition and performance, implementing rationalization or diversification where appropriate, and integrating regulatory, accounting, and tax considerations into investment decision-making. You will prepare comprehensive documentation for investment committees and boards, negotiate fee structures with financial institutions, and support the CFO and CEO in representing the organization with internal and external stakeholders on matters related to financial asset management.
The position also supports cross-functional cooperation and teamwork, with a focus on building and maintaining trusted relationships across internal teams. You will manage a small team of experts and may provide additional support to the CFO on ad hoc topics related to accounting, budgeting, or the business model of managed entities. The successful applicant will have a university degree or equivalent in economics, finance, or management engineering, with a CFA or CAIA certification considered an advantage, along with at least 10 years of experience in portfolio management and/or financial analysis, demonstrated leadership in pension fund, asset management, and life insurance contexts, portfolio construction experience including regulatory and tax considerations, and a long-term investment perspective; experience with ALM is a plus. Proficiency in French or Dutch, fluency in English, strong communication skills, solid quantitative ability, autonomy with a team-oriented mindset, and respect for ethical and governance standards are expected.
