The client is seeking a Head of Finance and Facilities Operations to lead financial stewardship and key operational functions for a mission-driven educational institution on the San Francisco Peninsula. Reporting to senior leadership, this role oversees finance, accounting, business operations, facilities, financial aid, risk management, and related administrative responsibilities. The position combines strategic financial planning with hands-on oversight, partnering closely with executive leadership and the Board to support long-term organizational sustainability.
Responsibilities include leading financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, investments, financial reporting, and long-term financial modeling. The role also manages accounting operations, annual audits, internal controls, regulatory compliance, and the development and maintenance of financial policies and procedures. In addition, the leader will oversee facilities and related capital projects, deferred maintenance planning, vendor relationships, insurance, contracts, and organizational risk management, while supporting core business office functions such as payroll support, tuition planning, financial aid, student accounts, and receivables.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, with CPA or MBA preferred. Five or more years of progressively responsible finance and operations leadership experience are expected, ideally within a nonprofit or educational environment. Strong nonprofit accounting, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, internal controls, audits, facilities management, and risk management knowledge is required, along with demonstrated experience presenting financial information to executive leadership and governance bodies and leading teams across multiple functions; proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace is expected, and experience with cloud-based financial systems is preferred.
