The client is seeking a Head of Finance and Facilities Operations for a mission-driven educational organization located on the San Francisco Peninsula. This senior leadership role is responsible for ensuring the organization’s financial health and operational success by overseeing finance, accounting, business operations, facilities, financial aid, risk management, and related administrative functions. Reporting to senior leadership, the leader will balance strategic planning with hands-on operational oversight while partnering with executive leadership and the Board to support strong fiscal stewardship and long-term sustainability.
Key responsibilities include leading financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, investment oversight, financial reporting, and long-term financial modeling. The role also oversees accounting operations, annual audits, internal controls, regulatory compliance, and the development and maintenance of financial policies and procedures. In addition, the leader will manage facilities and related capital projects, deferred maintenance planning, vendor and insurance relationships, contracts, and organizational risk management, while providing financial analysis, projections, reporting, and strategic recommendations to support decision-making.
The Head of Finance and Facilities Operations will provide leadership across business office functions, including payroll support, tuition planning, financial aid, student accounts, receivables, and related financial operations. The position involves leading and supporting teams across finance, accounting, financial aid, facilities, and the business office, with an emphasis on strengthening systems and processes. Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, with CPA or MBA preferred; the role typically requires five or more years of progressively responsible finance and operations leadership experience, strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting and internal controls, proven experience developing financial strategies for executive stakeholders, and the ability to oversee multiple functions within a complex organization.
