Head of Estates Finance will provide strategic financial leadership across a substantial property and estates portfolio valued in excess of £3 billion, including operational assets, strategic land holdings, investment properties, and major development programmes. This role is expected to drive financial strategy and governance for significant development, infrastructure, and transformation initiatives, supporting long-term asset planning and the delivery of high-quality financial business partnering.
As a senior member of the leadership team, the Head of Estates Finance will lead the finance function supporting estates, property, and capital investment activities, with responsibility for planning, reporting, governance, investment appraisal, and robust financial stewardship. Working closely with executive stakeholders, boards, and external partners, the role will provide expert advice on financial performance, investment opportunities, commercial strategy, and risk management, including financial oversight of major development projects, capital programmes, and associated commercial entities.
The successful applicant will be an accomplished senior finance leader with significant experience influencing executive-level strategic decisions within a large, complex organisation. Key qualifications include a recognised professional accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) and substantial senior financial management experience, along with proven leadership of high-performing finance teams and experience driving organisational change. The role requires expertise in financial planning, reporting, governance, controls, and risk management, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to translate complex financial information into clear recommendations for senior stakeholders, with demonstrated experience supporting major investment programmes, capital projects, business cases, and CAPEX/OPEX management; candidates with relevant experience in property and real estate, infrastructure, utilities, housing and regeneration, asset-intensive commercial organisations, and major capital investment environments may be particularly well suited.
