the client is seeking an experienced DeFi engineering leader for the role of Head of DeFi engineering. This key position will help drive and position the organization as a hub for DeFi activity. The role will be responsible for shaping and leading efforts across DeFi application development, tokenomics, and broader DeFi initiatives within the ecosystem.
As Head of DeFi engineering, you will report to the SVP Platform Engineering role and co-lead the team to design and engineer new DeFi DApps for the ecosystem, develop tokenomics for DeFi applications, and support DeFi initiatives. Core responsibilities include understanding existing DeFi trends and gaps, leading engineers to design DeFi DApps from smart contracts through UI/UX, collaborating with leading ecosystem DeFi teams, and participating in governance discussions across DeFi initiatives.
Requirements include a strong passion for cryptocurrency and blockchain, with a demonstrated interest in both CeFi and DeFi, along with a commitment to continuously learning and tracking industry trends. A computer science background is expected, and experience in full-stack development and smart contract development is required, with familiarity such as Solidity or Scilla referenced. The role also calls for a strong understanding of web3 tooling and DeFi engineering practices, crypto-economics, and spot and derivative markets (with perpetuals noted as a plus). Participation in crypto hackathons and a “degen”/DeFi hacking mindset are considered beneficial, and experience leading DeFi project teams is expected.
