Description

The client is seeking a Head of Business Development to shape and scale a national business development function during a pivotal phase of growth. This is a highly visible leadership role responsible for influencing large project pipelines, guiding enterprise growth strategy, and partnering directly with executive leadership to drive long-term success across key markets. The position will typically focus on advanced manufacturing, mission critical infrastructure, and large-scale commercial builds.

Key responsibilities include leading and orchestrating national business development strategy across multiple verticals, refining pipeline management processes to evaluate opportunity quality and conversion into secured backlog, and building executive-level relationships with owners, developers, architects, engineers, and strategic partners. The role will also guide complex pursuit efforts from early engagement through contract execution, aligning internal teams to deliver differentiated solutions, and partner cross-functionally with preconstruction, operations, and executive leadership to support seamless execution from concept through completion. Additionally, it will establish structure, accountability, and performance standards across a growing development team and translate market trends, competitive insights, and economic factors into actionable strategies that drive revenue growth.

Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience, along with 10 to 20 years of construction industry experience with a strong background in business development, preconstruction, or project execution. The role is expected to be supported by proven leadership experience overseeing teams and driving accountability for pipeline performance, a strong understanding of construction methods and the project lifecycle with the ability to connect technical insight to business strategy, and demonstrated success leading complex pursuits to secure large-scale projects. Preferred qualifications include experience in large-scale commercial or industrial construction, familiarity with design-build or collaborative delivery models, experience building or transforming business development functions, and a track record of synthesizing complex information into clear, actionable strategies.
