The client is seeking a Head of AI Engineering to lead the ownership and build-out of a next-generation, AI-native data layer within a rapidly scaling, private equity-backed data platform business. Reporting directly into the Group CTO, the role focuses on shaping technical direction and supporting the evolution of global data products through platform architecture and AI adoption.
The Head of AI Engineering will architect and deliver a centralised AI-native data platform across multiple global datasets, building and scaling high-performance data pipelines, APIs, and data services. Responsibilities include deploying AI and automation to improve data quality, enrichment, and verification, collaborating with the CTO on technical strategy and roadmap, and leading technical due diligence for acquisitions with ownership of post-acquisition integration planning. The role also involves engaging with senior leadership and investors to present architecture and strategy, starting as a hands-on individual contributor with the scope to build and lead a team.
The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience building production-grade systems at scale, along with a background as a Staff/Principal Engineer, senior individual contributor, or technical leader in a high-growth environment. Strong hands-on coding skills in Python, SQL, and TypeScript are required, as well as experience building large-scale data platforms, APIs, and distributed systems. They should be able to operate across architecture and delivery while communicating effectively with executives; desirable experience includes AI/LLM systems, data enrichment, B2B data products, or hybrid infrastructure environments.
