The client is seeking a Head of A&R to lead and execute the company’s A&R vision, strategy, and performance standards. This senior role sets creative direction, mentors A&R teams, and ensures a high-quality, supportive experience for writers and producers. The Head of A&R will own high-stakes dealmaking and core creative relationships, overseeing signings from early discovery through sustained commercial and artistic outcomes.
Key responsibilities include discussing, structuring, negotiating, and executing publishing deals in partnership with Business Affairs and Finance for approvals. The role will lead meetings with prospective signings to communicate the company’s creative vision, track record, and growth story, while managing the full writer roster, including session strategy support, pitching, and ongoing relationship development. The Head of A&R will also resolve complex split disputes to deliver fair, timely outcomes that protect relationships and catalog value.
In addition, the Head of A&R will drive leadership and team development by establishing standards for scouting, development, pitching cadence, and reporting, and by running internal A&R meetings and planning with a culture of feedback and transparency. The role will maintain an executive operating rhythm with the President/Founder across approvals and key updates, participate in executive meetings and royalty reviews, coordinate priority narratives with PR/Comms, and oversee A&R operations such as meeting cadence, calendar management, vendor/partner coordination, and studio oversight. The client expects success over 12–18 months through strong signings and re-signs with clear creative theses, improved cycle times, healthy roster growth and retention, equitable split resolutions, consistent reporting with Exec/Finance on royalties and catalog performance, and measurable A&R team performance including hiring, mentorship, playbooks, and sustained creative rigor.
