Description

The role of Retail National Sales Director involves being a crucial part of the leadership team, responsible for designing and implementing a strategic sales plan for the retail business across Spain and Portugal. The primary goal is to ensure the client meets its annual budget while maintaining good product profitability. This includes developing and executing a retail commercial strategy for the Iberian market and creating annual business plans for key retail customers. The director must identify opportunities to grow revenue, market share, and profit, establish sales objectives, and forecast annual sales for different regions and territories. Integral to this role is maintaining an excellent understanding of key customers to ensure their requirements are met and their business is retained. Well-negotiated pricing, terms, and promotions according to business guidelines are essential, along with a close collaboration with the retail sales team to enhance revenue and profitability.

Additionally, part of the director's responsibilities includes managing the retail sales team, optimizing sales volume, product mix, and selling prices to maximize margins. The director takes charge of championing new products from innovation through implementation, establishing them as core business elements. It is critical to develop the sales team and structure to ensure sales and channel effectiveness, conduct regular reviews with customers to guarantee excellent service and satisfaction, and monitor external factors such as competitors and legislation that may affect business operations. The role also involves direct interaction and negotiation with major customers, managing multi-level customer contact, and working with human resources to interview and plan for succession, strengthening the national commercial team.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree, be open to travel, and be fluent in English. They should possess outstanding negotiation skills and strategic commercial experience, backed by at least ten years in senior sales roles, preferably in a dynamic food environment. Experience in engaging with Retail and Food Services customers at a senior level is crucial, along with a strong commercial ability to navigate strategic leadership challenges. The position offers a strategic role within an international professional setting, demanding expertise in managing national markets and negotiation while providing essential technical, strategic, and leadership experience.
