The Vice President, Government Relations will be responsible for shaping the policy landscape for venture capital and private equity, focusing on tax, trade, securities, immigration, and competitiveness issues with federal and provincial governments and regulatory bodies. They will advocate for an innovation agenda within governments, interacting with policymakers and stakeholders to ensure legislation and regulations support a competitive business environment for private capital. The VP will develop an annual strategic plan, work cross-functionally with partners, and build relationships with think tanks and advocacy groups focused on entrepreneurial growth.This role requires a longer-term focus on anticipating and managing emerging issues in the private capital industry, influencing policy development and implementation by elected officials and regulatory decision-makers. The ideal candidate will have a strong reputation as a professional and ethical government relations professional, a network of relationships within the policy community, and a track record of maintaining constructive relationships with multiple levels of government.
