They should be a strategic planner, leading with a future-focused, solutions-driven approach. The ideal candidate should be genuinely inclusive and culturally competent, embracing diversity, honoring tikanga and cultural identity, and aligning with the school's inclusive, student-centered values. They should be warm, approachable, and people-focused, connecting genuinely with students, staff, and whanau, and building strong relationships across the school and community. The Tumuaki Principal should be fair, firm, and consistent, setting clear boundaries and maintaining a safe, respectful environment. They should be empowering, motivating, and have effective delegation and coaching skills to support students and grow staff capability. Additionally, they should be visible and actively involved in school and community life, acting as a proud ambassador for the school.
