Description

The Dean of Law position involves reporting to the Provost and Vice President Academic, providing strategic direction and operational oversight for the Faculty and the Grard V. La Forest Law Library. Responsibilities include advancing academic programming, fostering research excellence, enhancing the student experience, and guiding faculty, staff, and law librarians in a collaborative environment. The Dean also has external responsibilities, such as engaging with the legal community, serving on the Law Society of New Brunswick Council, representing UNB Law with the New Brunswick Law Foundation, and collaborating with the Chief Justice of New Brunswick on various panels and committees. Additionally, the Dean acts as a key ambassador for the faculty, strengthening relationships with alumni and advancing UNB Law's influence regionally and nationally.As a member of the Deans Council, the Dean of Law plays a crucial role in providing leadership within the academic institution. They are responsible for ensuring the Faculty and the Law Library operate effectively and efficiently, while also promoting research excellence and enhancing the overall student experience. The Dean's role involves fostering a collegial and collaborative environment among faculty, staff, and law librarians, as well as actively engaging with the legal community. In addition to internal responsibilities, the Dean serves as a representative of UNB Law in various external capacities, including collaborating with the Chief Justice of New Brunswick and participating in panels, task forces, and committees.
