Description

The client is seeking a General Manager, Property to take ownership of the entire property lifecycle across a national portfolio of approximately 250 sites. This senior leadership role will lead a team of eight and report to the CFO, working closely with divisional leadership to drive commercial outcomes and strengthen how the property function delivers value across the organization.

Key responsibilities include leading leasing strategy and negotiation across a multi-site portfolio; managing the full lease lifecycle (including acquisitions, renewals, surrenders, subtenancies, and exits); commissioning and overseeing a structured portfolio audit covering site condition, capital works prioritisation, and a refurbishment cycle with appropriate governance; and managing contractor and procurement panels, with a focus on expanding panels, maintaining competitive tension, and reducing unnecessary cost. The role also includes facilities management across the portfolio, establishing standards, performance accountability, and contractor governance, as well as providing proactive reporting to the CFO and divisional COOs.

This transformation-focused appointment requires a property leader with extensive experience managing complex, high-volume, multi-site portfolios, with leasing as a core strength. The successful candidate will have a proven track record developing teams and handling challenging conversations, strong stakeholder skills earned through delivery, and the patience and emotional intelligence to operate in a complex, decentralised environment. Experience navigating transformation—building structure where needed and seeing it through—together with a genuine commitment to people leadership and an understanding that, in a healthcare environment, the property function exists to serve patients, will be key to success.
