the client is seeking an experienced, creative, collaborative General Manager to guide a multi-platform public media station into its next chapter. The role will support modern, progressive approaches to delivering high-quality, locally produced content across digital platforms to reach current and future audiences in a dynamic metropolitan marketplace.
Reporting to the vice provost for administration, the General Manager leads a fully functioning, multi-platform operation with responsibility for increasing community impact, audience growth, and revenue. The General Manager will lead and empower a team of full-time staff and part-time on-air talent to deliver a weekday Adult Album Alternative (Triple A) music format, award-winning local news and sports, and a diverse weekend lineup. A central mission focus includes sustaining a learning-intensive student internship and training program that supports student learning.
The General Manager provides strategic leadership to achieve the organization’s mission and strategic goals, raise the station’s profile regionally and beyond, and modernize offerings to align with the evolving needs of listeners through innovative programming across broadcast, streaming, and podcasting platforms. The role includes shaping organizational culture to engage the creator community for emerging, diverse talent, leading major fundraising efforts in collaboration with station and university fundraising leadership, and representing the station’s interests with key state and national organizations and agencies. The position also collaborates across campus with marketing and communications to position the station as a learning lab and recruitment tool, supporting a pipeline of broadcasters, journalists, musicians, producers, and engineers.
