Description

the client General Manager leads the development and execution of enterprise strategy and a transformation agenda, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer. The role operates as a strategic advisor to the CEO and Board, providing leadership across long-term strategic direction, alignment to enterprise priorities, and disciplined execution of a complex portfolio of programs and major projects with a focus on benefits realisation.

Key responsibilities include evolving the operating model to support future performance, embedding robust governance, prioritisation, and performance frameworks, and influencing decision-making at the highest levels both internally and with government and key stakeholders. The General Manager is expected to build and lead a high-performing, engaged leadership team aligned to enterprise priorities, champion a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement, and provide visible leadership to embed organisational values and drive sustainable change.

The successful candidate will be an established executive with experience leading enterprise strategy and large-scale transformation in large, complex, asset-intensive environments. The role typically requires a proven track record delivering major programs from design through to benefits realisation, strong commercial and strategic acumen, and demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders including CEO and Board level audiences. The client expects leadership that builds organisational capability and inspires shared purpose, with a commitment to safety, inclusion, and values-led leadership; this position also provides whole-of-enterprise transformation impact across strategy, operations, technology, and culture, including infrastructure planning and investment, climate resilience and water security, operational efficiency and performance uplift, customer and community outcomes, and digital and organisational transformation.
