the client is seeking an executive to serve as General Manager and Chief Operating Officer for a cannabis business in California. The role is accountable for the end-to-end product life cycle and for ensuring operations meet business needs. The position will lead cross-functional execution across internal teams while working closely with product, marketing, and sales to drive business performance.
Key responsibilities include defining, developing, and executing launch plans and an omnichannel go-to-market strategy designed to achieve revenue and distribution goals. The executive will promote and evangelize the brand and products to build consumer awareness through a combination of online and offline activation, and engage directly with customers, influencers, and opinion leaders to support top- and bottom-line results. The role also involves developing high-performance cross-functional teams and aligning team performance with overall business objectives.
The ideal candidate will be a commercial leader with prior general management experience in the cannabis space, including end-to-end leadership and cross-functional work spanning marketing and online/offline sales. Requirements include proven business leadership results in fast-paced, high-growth environments; strong command of omnichannel strategy across changing markets; and experience building, selling, marketing, and scaling cannabis and related devices. The executive should understand the unique regulatory requirements and constraints around advertising and sales in the cannabis industry, and bring an entrepreneurial, hands-on, adaptable approach along with strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
