The General Manager will direct day-to-day operations for mechanical construction work covering HVAC, plumbing, piping, and related building systems. Key responsibilities include leading performance across revenue, profitability, backlog, labor utilization, and cash management; partnering with ownership and internal stakeholders to set operating priorities and performance expectations; overseeing projects from preconstruction through closeout with coordination across estimating, project management, field execution, purchasing, billing, and collections; and guiding bid strategy and project selection based on opportunity fit, resource capacity, risk profile, and margin potential. The role also involves improving job cost visibility, forecasting accuracy, schedule control, and change management practices, while building and deepening relationships with general contractors, end users, and industry partners.
Successful candidates will bring 10 or more years of leadership experience in mechanical construction or a closely related commercial HVAC, plumbing, and piping environment, along with prior success leading operations, projects, or a business unit with meaningful responsibility for financial and operational results. The role requires strong understanding of estimating, project delivery, field coordination, labor planning, procurement, billing, and project controls, with experience managing performance metrics such as gross margin, backlog, forecast accuracy, labor productivity, and cash flow. The General Manager should be able to bring structure to a growing business while staying hands-on with teams and customers, demonstrate strong communication and credible leadership across office and field staff, and promote consistent safety, quality, compliance, and customer satisfaction while coaching and mentoring managers, supervisors, and emerging leaders.
