Description

The ideal candidate for this leadership position in a performing arts or cultural organization should have at least five years of cumulative leadership experience, with a preference for experience in opera or classical art forms. Strong financial management skills, including budgeting and securing diverse revenue streams, are essential, as well as a strategic and creative approach to leadership to enhance artistic vitality and ensure organizational sustainability. The candidate should also have a proven track record in securing major gifts, sponsorships, and grants, along with experience in planning and executing fundraising campaigns and special events.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are necessary to engage effectively with staff, donors, patrons, artists, and community partners. The candidate should have a transparent, evidence-based decision-making style and a collaborative management approach that fosters trust and values staff and artists' expertise. Community engagement, advocacy, and a commitment to promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging within the arts/culture organizational landscape are also important, as well as experience working with a board to increase their engagement in fundraising, governance, and ambassador roles. A bachelor's degree is required, with an advanced degree or relevant professional certification preferred.
