the client is seeking a General Counsel to lead and develop the US Legal & Compliance function for a leading public company in the industrial/manufacturing space. the General Counsel will provide hands-on and strategic legal counsel to the company President, senior leadership, and business stakeholders, while supporting business objectives through effective legal guidance and risk-aware decision-making.
key responsibilities include ensuring a robust compliance culture aligned with federal, state, and local laws and applicable industry regulations, overseeing corporate governance matters, and managing a small legal and compliance team that primarily handles day-to-day contract management. the role also involves managing outside counsel on complex matters as needed, and overseeing and advising on enterprise risk management strategies to protect the organization.
the successful General Counsel will have a US law degree with admission to the bar and extensive knowledge of corporate law, compliance, and risk management, typically including experience in industrial/manufacturing. the role expects strong strategic advisory capabilities for senior leadership, demonstrated leadership and team management experience, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
