The General Counsel & Chief Privacy Officer will report directly to the President and CEO, providing legal advice and guidance to the Board, senior management, staff, and volunteers on a variety of legal and governance issues related to the operations of the organization. This includes contract drafting, review, and negotiation, not-for-profit corporate law, governance, employment and human rights, intellectual property, and civil litigation. The role also involves supporting enterprise risk management, advising on risk mitigation, claims, and compliance matters, as well as managing relationships with insurers and external counsel to ensure cost-effective service delivery.In addition to legal responsibilities, the General Counsel & Chief Privacy Officer will support the Board and committees on governance practices, legislative compliance, and policy standards. They will also serve as VON's Chief Privacy Officer, providing advice and oversight on access to information, privacy, and confidentiality matters. Overall, this role plays a crucial part in the implementation and adoption of our client's new Strategic Plan, ensuring legal and governance matters are handled effectively and in alignment with the organization's goals and values.
