The client is seeking a General Counsel with 12+ years of legal experience, including at least 5 years in-house at a consumer-packaged goods or food/beverage company. The ideal candidate will have expertise in IP licensing, contract law, and regulatory compliance, with experience managing major licensing relationships, preferably with entertainment brands. This role involves advising the executive team and Board of Directors on all legal matters impacting the business in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be a proactive and strategic business partner.
The General Counsel will provide legal and compliance leadership by advising the CEO, executive team, and Board of Directors on all legal matters. Responsibilities include overseeing all legal functions, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations in the food and beverage industry, and staying informed of evolving regulatory requirements. The role also involves managing outside counsel, structuring and negotiating licensing agreements with entertainment studios, and providing counsel on intellectual property rights.
In addition to legal and compliance leadership, the General Counsel will be responsible for handling commercial and corporate transactions, risk management, and developing company-wide policies on ethics and compliance. This role also includes leading internal investigations, managing dispute resolution, and supporting potential IPO readiness.
