The client is seeking a Founding Director of Academics to serve as a key instructional leader for Pre-K through 8 academic programs. Working closely with the superintendent, the director of music and arts, and instructional teams, the role supports a mission that integrates academic rigor with music and the arts in a nurturing environment that encourages curiosity, technical fluency, and creative expression.
The Founding Director of Academics will help align curriculum, assessment, and instructional practice across grade levels, ensuring consistency and quality throughout the academic program. Responsibilities include collaborating on the design and implementation of high-quality curricula aligned with mission priorities and applicable standards, incorporating insights from cognitive science into instructional design and teacher practice, overseeing horizontal and vertical curriculum alignment across core subjects and enrichment, and leading efforts to integrate arts-based learning strategies in partnership with the music and arts leadership.
The role also includes teacher coaching and professional growth, such as observing instruction, providing actionable feedback, guiding implementation of data-informed practices, differentiated instruction, and a multi-tiered support approach, and designing ongoing professional learning tied to campus goals. The director will synthesize assessment and benchmark data to drive continuous improvement, promote data literacy and transparency, and oversee improvement planning through formal performance evaluations while fostering a growth-oriented faculty culture grounded in classroom realities.
