The Fire Chief position reports to the Commissioner of Public Safety and involves providing executive leadership for our client, a public safety organization that serves over 500,000 residents across a diverse municipality. This role includes overseeing 51 stations, managing a team of over 650 career staff and 500 volunteers, and handling an operational budget of over $100M. The Fire Chief is responsible for ensuring excellence in fire suppression, rescue, prevention, inspection, hazardous materials response, emergency medical services, public education, and professional development.The Fire Chief sets clear priorities and ensures they are translated into measurable operational results. This role involves building a professional, inclusive, and accountable culture within the organization through active and engaged leadership. The Fire Chief also acts as a trusted ambassador for the organization, working closely with elected officials, internal business units, public safety partners, and the community to strengthen public confidence in the service. Additionally, the Chief provides senior leadership in municipal emergency management frameworks to ensure preparedness, coordinated response, and resilience during major incidents and disasters.
