A globally backed engineering group is seeking a commercially minded, hands-on Finance Director to provide broad, business-critical financial leadership across its UK business. The role partners with the UK managing director and senior management to oversee core finance activities, including treasury and cash management, financial planning and analysis, financial and statutory accounting, and accounts payable/receivable.
Key responsibilities include leading annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and long-term planning (including a five-year plan), delivering robust financial analysis for strategic initiatives and capital investments (including discounted cash flow modelling), and partnering with commercial and operational leaders to evaluate sales, pricing, and manufacturing strategies. The Finance Director will ensure accurate, timely financial reporting and statutory compliance across multiple UK entities, providing oversight of tax, VAT, and regulatory compliance and related group reporting requirements.
The position also focuses on continuous improvement across finance processes, controls, and systems, with responsibility for leading, mentoring, and developing the finance team and building capability and succession. It is expected to maintain SOX controls and support US GAAP reporting, contribute to financial system development and transformation initiatives, and deliver ad hoc financial insight to support executive decision-making. The ideal candidate will hold a professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) and have 10+ years of senior finance/leadership experience, with manufacturing/engineering/industrial exposure and experience in multi-entity or international environments preferred.
