The client is seeking a new Board Member with significant Finance and Audit experience to join their voluntary Board of Directors and serve on the Finance & Audit Committee. The successful candidate will attend quarterly Board meetings, provide oversight of financial planning and reporting processes, ensure compliance with statutory obligations, and offer advice on sustainable financial practices. They must be a qualified accountant or have significant experience in financial management, with an understanding of good governance principles and financial compliance.
The ideal candidate will have experience in audit, financial controls, or risk oversight in the private, public, or nonprofit sector. They should possess strategic thinking skills, the ability to balance short-term operational needs with long-term sustainability, and a commitment to preparing for and attending meetings. Previous experience on a Board or Committee is desirable but not essential, as is an interest in the arts and community engagement. All directors must have a clear understanding of the Charities Governance Code and their duties under the Code and the Companies Act.
The role requires attendance at 4 Board meetings and 2 Finance & Audit Committee meetings per year, as well as occasional ad hoc meetings or events as appropriate. Directors must be familiar with The client's Governance and Policies, including the Charities Governance Code, and uphold the organization's values of inclusion, creativity, community, excellence, and sustainability.
