The client is seeking a Finance & Administration Director to provide strategic and operational leadership for financial, administrative, and human resources functions. The role ensures regulatory compliance, strengthens internal systems that support decision-making and day-to-day operations, and advances long-term financial sustainability through sound financial management, strategic analysis, and stewardship of organizational resources. Responsibilities include core finance operations such as budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, cash management, accounting, payroll coordination, accounts payable and receivable, restricted and endowment accounting administration, and coordination of the annual audit.
Working closely with the Executive Director and leadership team, the Director translates financial information into practical recommendations and helps modernize the organization’s financial and administrative infrastructure. This is a working leadership position that balances organizational improvement and strategic planning with direct responsibility for executing day-to-day functions, including human resources. The Director partners with leadership to manage and improve the annual budgeting process and long-term financial planning, strengthens financial structure and coding systems to support accurate accounting and cost allocation, and develops cash flow projections and scenario-based reporting to identify financial risks, opportunities, and variances.
Key financial management responsibilities include managing day-to-day accounting systems to maintain accurate and timely records, overseeing accounts payable and receivable, deposits, expense reimbursements, payroll coordination, banking, and credit card processes, and leading the monthly and year-end close process with reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statements. The Director maintains tracking and reporting for unrestricted, restricted, and designated funds and supports appropriate financial reporting and compliance, coordinates the annual audit by preparing schedules and supporting documentation, and manages relationships with auditors and financial service providers. The role also administers endowment and grant-related financial reporting and compliance, collaborates with program and development staff on grant budgeting and financial tracking, and maintains methods for allocating staff time and shared costs across grants, departments, and projects.
