the client is seeking an Executive Editor to lead the editorial team and guide the magazine’s editorial direction. In partnership with the Queue Editor-in-Chief, this role will shape the editorial calendar, direct proactive content acquisition and development, and ensure timely, on-scope production of the publication.
Core responsibilities include establishing and managing editorial schedules, assigning and coordinating articles with editors, collaborating on visual concepts with editors and the art team, and directing the timing and tone of both website publication and print selections. The Executive Editor will monitor editorial departments to maintain high editorial standards, work with client management to support compliance with the Queue’s annual expense budget, and identify potential authors through active participation in editorial meetings and discussions.
Additional responsibilities include recruiting and developing lead authors and articles, managing the full developmental process from initial drafts through multiple iterations and peer review, and expanding the publication’s content formats (such as podcasts, videos, roundtables, and case studies) from concept through implementation while keeping deadlines in focus. The role will also support transitioning the magazine from an issue-based bimonthly model to an on-demand, article-based online publication approach, aiming for regular cadence as articles are ready.
