The client is seeking an Executive Director to lead a Western art and history museum with a mission to explore and share the diverse stories and cultures of the American West. The role will provide executive leadership for an organization with strong collections, exhibitions, educational programs, and community engagement, and will help guide strategic efforts to inspire visitors and advance the study and appreciation of Western art, including Western women’s art.
Key responsibilities will include overseeing the museum’s exhibition and programming direction, supporting ongoing growth as a nationally respected destination for Western art, history, education, and cultural storytelling, and strengthening regional and national impact. The Executive Director will also help advance a strategic plan adopted to guide the organization’s next chapter of work, with priorities focused on expanding its profile, deepening community engagement, and elevating visitor experiences.
The position will be central to major institutional momentum, including completion of a new museum facility and campus expansion scheduled to open in 2028, as well as continued support for capital campaign progress and organizational transformation. The Executive Director is expected to lead through a period of change while fostering collaboration with stakeholders, aligning operations with the museum’s refreshed vision, and ensuring continued recognition and growth of the museum’s public mission.
