the client seeks an inspiring, ambitious next Executive Director to lead the organization as it approaches its 30th anniversary. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will serve as chief strategist, senior-most manager, and fundraiser, contributing strong managerial and communication skills, keen financial acumen, and an entrepreneurial orientation. The role will provide visionary leadership to sustain and advance the organization’s mission, vision, and long-term financial health through strategic planning and effective management.
The Executive Director will focus on expanding the volunteer and donor base while sustaining the client as a vital provider of pro bono business and transactional legal assistance to nonprofit organizations that serve disadvantaged individuals or enhance community quality of life. The work supports nonprofit clients across New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut and is delivered through a team of full-time staff attorneys and a network of volunteer attorneys, generally in-house or working in law firms. The Executive Director is expected to oversee budgetary and operational leadership, including management of an approximately $3.1 million budget and a staff of 21.
The Executive Director will lead the organization’s fundraising efforts and help architect and implement a forward-thinking, long-range strategy to maintain fiscal soundness and organizational impact. Candidates are expected to demonstrate leadership ability, strong communication, and the capacity to manage senior organizational responsibilities, including financial and strategic planning. The search is supported by an external advisor; inquiries, applications, and nominations are accepted through that firm’s application process, with screening beginning immediately and continuing until the search is completed.
