The client is seeking an Executive Director to serve as the chief executive and strategic leader, partnering with its Board of Directors, staff leadership, community members, and external stakeholders to advance the organization’s mission and long-term sustainability. The role involves guiding an organization with a strong legacy and a nationally recognized voice in harm reduction while navigating an increasingly complex public health and policy environment. The Executive Director will steward a culture grounded in equity, collaboration, transparency, and shared leadership.
As the top leader, the Executive Director will oversee organizational strategy, operations, fundraising, advocacy, financial management, and external relations. The organization’s work centers on harm reduction principles, anti-oppression, and leadership by people with lived experience, with services that combine direct support, advocacy, clinical care, outreach, and systems change. The Executive Director will help position the organization for continued impact and growth by sustaining its community-rooted, client-centered culture and strengthening organizational infrastructure and leadership development.
The client delivers a range of community-centered programs and services, including primary care and treatment access, harm reduction-based substance use support, outreach and hotspot initiatives, overdose prevention resources, and referrals and support services. The Executive Director will be expected to provide leadership that aligns strategy and operations with these service priorities while fostering trust internally and externally. The ideal candidate will be both visionary and operationally strong, able to inspire confidence and guide the organization through evolving policy challenges and funding uncertainty.
