The client is seeking a dynamic, collaborative Executive Director to lead the launch and establishment of a new initiative in the Washington, D.C. Metro area. This entrepreneurial leader will build a local Selection Advisory Council and run the diligence and selection process to identify highest-priority needs, select portfolio organizations, and support expanding organizations as they launch and grow. The Executive Director will also steward and secure funders and other resources and engage a wide range of constituents to advance community impact.
Responsibilities include providing programmatic leadership by guiding the Selection Advisory Council, running an annual selection process, and conducting rigorous diligence and landscape analysis to assess organizations’ potential impact and community fit. The role will incorporate the voices of community members with lived experience navigating poverty when determining priority needs and solutions. The Executive Director will serve as an active local board member for portfolio organizations and act as a strategic thought partner and connector to portfolio organization executive directors and boards on strategic and operational issues.
The Executive Director will lead community-rooted fundraising and investor relations efforts to strengthen current support, renew and expand investor commitments, and position the initiative for future follow-on fundraising. Reporting to a Vice President, Site Success, the role is expected to lead implementation of The client’s Method of Impact in the Washington, D.C. Metro area, partner with peers across the organization to identify and spread what works, and support the broader national network.
