The client seeks a visionary, strategic, and collaborative leader to serve as Executive Director of its career exploration center and Associate Dean of the College. This role will help advance an undergraduate model centered on student self-direction and meaningful career exploration as an integral part of a liberal arts education. The Executive Director and Associate Dean will lead nationally recognized career exploration work, serve as a key member of the College’s senior leadership team, and directly advise undergraduate students, supporting students in building lifelong curiosity, purpose, and usefulness in a rapidly changing world shaped by technology, evolving workforce expectations, and artificial intelligence.
The client’s Executive Director will provide leadership, strategic direction, and high-level oversight for a best-in-class career services and education center. The Executive Director is expected to integrate career exploration and learning across the undergraduate experience, advocate for innovation in higher education career exploration, and report to the Dean of the College. The role includes championing a culture of evidence-based practice and continuous improvement by leveraging data analytics to evaluate programs, demonstrate institutional value, anticipate employment trends, and ensure career development initiatives align with broader goals related to enrollment, retention, and student success.
The Executive Director will oversee a sizable team of professional staff and student peer career advisors and career ambassadors, along with extensive programming that engages undergraduate students annually. As Associate Dean, the Executive Director will serve as an academic advisor and collaborate with other College divisions and programs, and participate in committees as assigned. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree (with an advanced degree preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience) and 10+ years of related experience in career services or a related field, including at least 5 years in a management position of significant responsibility, with demonstrated experience building inclusive visions, partnering effectively with diverse constituencies such as alumni, employers, faculty, staff, and students, and leading career advising and education initiatives.
