The client is seeking a visionary Executive Director to lead a newly formed nonprofit arts residency program in Pittsburgh. The role will help establish the organization as a premier destination for immersive, interdisciplinary support for visual artists, writers, and curators, including locally based and visiting creatives. The Executive Director will provide overall leadership and shape the future of an innovative arts organization focused on strengthening community, fostering discourse across sectors, and supporting creative development without a requirement to produce.
Key responsibilities include strategic leadership and vision, establishing organizational policies and governance structures, and positioning the program as a leading arts residency. The Executive Director will build and maintain relationships with partners in the Pittsburgh arts community and steward connections with current, past, and future arts residents, while also developing a strong national network with other arts organizations and foundations that support the arts. Program development and management will include overseeing core initiatives that host and support artists and creatives, create connections across disciplines, and support artistic practice through a paid residency model.
Fundraising is a central component of the position, with the Executive Director serving as a primary representative for the organization and leading efforts to drive growth and financial sustainability. This includes creating and executing fundraising strategies, cultivating and steward relationships with individuals, institutions, and public funders across local, regional, and national levels, and overseeing grant solicitation, appeals, and timelines. The Executive Director will also engage the community through leadership, organizational development, and governance-related responsibilities, reporting directly to The client’s Board of Directors.
