The client is seeking an Executive Director as the senior operational leader responsible for overall leadership, culture, administration, and operational management. Reporting to the President and the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will advance the organization’s mission and strategic priorities while ensuring long-term sustainability and operational excellence, providing highly visible, hands-on leadership within the home. The role will guide a distinctive model of dementia care and foster a culture of psychological safety, accountability, compassion, and service to ensure the home remains both a loving environment and a well-run organization.
Key responsibilities will include caring culture and the delivery of care programs, employee experience, resident and family experience, and administration and facilities management. The Executive Director will lead through collaboration with residents, families, staff, and partners, and will work to strengthen service delivery and operational performance across complex care environments. They will also support strategic direction, innovation, and sector partnerships, leveraging strong relational leadership to build credibility and influence senior-level partners in the dementia care space.
The successful candidate is expected to have at least eight years of experience in retirement homes or long-term care supporting Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, along with at least five years of relevant senior leadership experience in health care administration. Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, policy and program development, financial oversight, vendor and facilities management, and leading multidisciplinary teams is required. Strong knowledge of seniors’ care, dementia care, and applicable legislative and regulatory frameworks is required; experience within a charitable organization and working alongside a Board of Directors is an asset. Advanced education is preferred, along with professionalism, empathy, mature and ethical leadership, and the ability to use data to support decision-making and Board reporting.
