The client is seeking an outstanding people leader to shape its workforce, culture, and organisational capability during an important period of development. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and working closely with the Vice-Chancellor, the Executive Director of Human Resources and Organisational Development will be a member of The client’s Executive Board and will lead the people agenda while contributing to institution-wide strategy, planning, and decision-making.
The Executive Director will lead the Human Resources and Organisational Development directorate, encompassing workforce strategy and planning, organisational development, employee and industrial relations, resourcing and reward, people policy, payroll, pensions, and HR administration. They will continue to develop an effective and trusted service closely connected to The client’s academic and operational priorities.
Key priorities include shaping future workforce strategy and strengthening organisational design, leadership capability, career development, and performance. The role also leads The client’s approach to employee relations by building constructive relationships with recognised trade unions and supporting ongoing change. Candidates are expected to bring substantial senior HR leadership experience in a large, complex, unionised environment, with strong experience in people strategy, organisational change, high-quality HR and organisational development service delivery, employee relations, and workforce transformation, including advising at executive and board level, while influencing across professional boundaries and connecting people strategy to organisational performance and financial sustainability.
