Description

The client seeks an Executive Director of Development to lead fundraising and alumni engagement within Health Sciences and Clinical Programs Advancement, reporting to a Vice Chancellor. The role builds support for the School of Medicine through relationship development with donors, alumni, and partners, and is responsible for driving both short-term fundraising results and long-term growth. It also oversees a comprehensive development approach aimed at increasing new and recurring contributions.

Key responsibilities include directing and overseeing School of Medicine fundraising and alumni relations, partnering with school leadership to build and execute annual fundraising plans, and leading fundraising efforts for an upcoming comprehensive campaign. The position develops and manages fundraising strategies for initiatives such as the Vanscoy Winter Academy, White Coat Ceremony, and Discovery Science, in collaboration with department chairs on targeted plans. It also involves engaging a portfolio of major gift prospects, building strategic relationships with deans, faculty, volunteers, and staff to support qualification through solicitation, and helping develop and manage a board of visitors through member pipeline development, engagement planning, and periodic presentations.

Required qualifications include demonstrated success securing major gifts at the $100K+ level, strong oral and written communication skills, persuasive ability, initiative, and team leadership. The ideal candidate is an organized, collaborative leader with excellent planning and project management skills and the ability to manage complex priorities. Experience in higher education, ideally within an academic medical center, is preferred, along with sound judgment, ethical conduct, and discretion in donor and volunteer interactions; regular travel and occasional evening or weekend work are required.
