The client seeks a visionary, mission-driven Executive Director to lead a nonprofit civil legal aid organization through a period of transition and organizational renewal. The organization provides civil legal assistance to low-income residents across a multi-county region in Northeast Pennsylvania, with multiple offices and satellite locations and a team that includes attorneys and paralegals. Core services include individual legal representation, information and advice, community legal education, and support for clients managing legal matters directly.
The Executive Director serves as the organization’s chief executive with full programmatic, fiscal, and operational authority, reporting to the Board of Directors. In this role, the leader will drive funding diversification and long-term sustainability to build resilience amid an evolving and uncertain funding landscape. The Executive Director will also help strengthen a unified culture across a geographically diverse footprint and play a central role in reinvigorating staff morale, collaboration, and investment in talent development and retention.
The client is looking for a leader who can navigate complexity with clarity, honor what is working, and thoughtfully guide what comes next. This role is suited to someone who is deeply committed to equal justice, values authentic relationships, and can balance strategic vision with thoughtful, people-centered leadership. The organization will support efforts to reintroduce and strengthen its presence with funders, partners, and the communities it serves.
