Description

The client seeks an Executive Director to lead the organization’s next chapter following the retirement of the current Executive Director. With multiple major restoration projects planned, the role’s primary focus is fundraising, supported by a moderate amount of functional administrative work to keep operations running smoothly. The Executive Director will advance restoration and preservation efforts for a prominent public-facing site with potentially broad community impact, and will steward relationships to strengthen support for the mission.

The Executive Director will report to the Board of Directors and is expected to lead mission and relationship stewardship, manage fundraising, and provide financial leadership and management. Responsibilities may include program leadership, business community engagement, and developing and maintaining a diversified donor base. The role requires flexibility to attend and support events, including evenings and weekends, to establish and grow meaningful relationships and raise the organization’s public profile.

The ideal candidate will bring demonstrated success raising significant gifts from corporate and commercial entities, with accomplishments defined as achieving five-figure or larger contributions. Additional requirements include proven grant writing experience, financial management skills such as budget preparation and grant management, and at least ten years of experience with a minimum of five years in a nonprofit environment, preferably with experience involving Board reporting. A bachelor’s degree is required, and candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. The position is based in New York, NY with a hybrid work structure.
